At Fourth Wall Murals we tell stories. Your stories. Through the use of literal and metaphorical representation of people, places, and ideas; through theatrical staging of scenes real and imagined, we make your walls finally talk. The flat planes of your walls become gateways into story, history, meaning.

A good storyteller knows the story well. At Fourth Wall Murals, the first step in the development of a mural is for us to learn your story. What would you like to say about yourself or your school or company? What would a stranger like to learn? Getting to know you and your story is the most important part of our process. We will help you develop your story through research and ongoing dialog. We will provide conceptual sketches and preliminary artwork, which often lead to new or refined ideas. Commisioning a mural can require a substantial investment of time, money, and emotion — we make certain that your investment will have lifelong return.

Murals may be painted directly onto your walls, or painted on canvas at our studio for later installation. The time required to complete your commissioned art varies with scale and content, as well as accessibility to the site. Painting is a contemplative discipline, and while the artist welcomes comment and conversation about the work, in the end your art will benefit from circumstances conducive to concentration. Seeing the work as it progresses on-site has its charms, we understand, but bear in mind that a work of significant scale can resemble a construction project at various points, with scaffolding, drop cloths, and the heady smell of paint and solvents. Large canvases painted off-site require careful handling, and have additional issues owing to their size, but do not require that the artist have access to the site beyond the initial discussions and measurement sessions.
